1 loaf of Texas toast bread
2 eggs
1 cup milk
pinch of salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
1. Beat the eggs (with a fork) in a bowl. Add salt, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Mix really really well. Add milk and vanilla and mix well.

2. Preheat griddle to 350 F.

3. Dip each piece of bread in the custard mixture. Don't dip too quickly but don't let it soak for very long. Make sure each side is coated in the custard with some soaking in.

4. Transfer each piece immediately to the griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side (until browned but not burned).

5. Serve with syrup, peanut butter, applesauce, etc.

This was often on the menu when it was dad's turn to cook dinner. It was also a favorite Saturday morning breakfast. -Lindsay
