1 3/4 C sugar
1 3 oz pkg strawberry flavored jello
1 C softened butter
4 eggs
2 3/4 C sifted cake flour ( sift before measure)
2 1/2 t baking powder
1 C Whole milk
1 T vanilla extract
1/2 C strawberry puree, made from frozen sweetened strawberries

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour three 9 in round cake pans or one 12 x 9.
In large bowl cream together butter, sugar, and strawberry gelatin until light and fluffy. Be sure to cream for at least two minutes. Separate egg yolks from white. Add yolks to butter one at a time mixing after each. In separate bowl beat egg whites until peaks form; then fold into butter mixture. In another bowl mix sifted flour and baking powder, stir this into the above batter. In a blender mix the strawberry puree with the vanilla and milk. Stir the puree in with the batter. Bake for 25 - 30 min or until an inserted knife comes out clean. Allow cake to cool for at least 10 min. Top with cream cheese frosting when cool.
