1 1/2 cup flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Streusel Filling
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in shortening or rub in with fingers until mixture is fine as cornmeal. Blend in well beaten egg, mixed with milk. Then blend in vanilla and beat just enough to mix well. Pour half the batter into a well greased and floured pan. Sprinkle with half the streusel mixture and add remaining batter and sprinkle Streusel mixture over top. Now bake 25 to 30 minutes in a moderate oven 375º

Streusel filling:
Mix sugar, flour and cinnamon together. Then blend in the melted butter. Stin in the chopped nuts.

This is Grandma Rosie's coffee cake. She made it a lot for us when we were kids. Dale...do you remember?

Yes and when they wanted to be fancy she would add some diced apples.
