1 1/4 cups ( yes, 2 1/2 sticks ) butter softened, divided
1 cup flour
1 cup uncooked old fashioned oats
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar, divided
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
4 squares (1 ounce each) White chocolate finely chopped
6 squares bittersweet or semisweet chocolate finely chopped.

Preheat oven to 350º
Beat 1/2 cup ( 1 stick) butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy about 2 minutes. Add flour, oats, 3/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon and salt - beat on low until course crumbs form. Pat firmly into an ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Set aside.
To prepare caramel, heat remaining 3/4 cup butter and 3/4 cup brown sugar in a heavy medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until butter melts. Bring mixture to a boil, cook 1 minute without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in the pecans. Pour caramel over crust.
Bake 18 -20 minutes on center rack of oven until caramel bubbles. Immediately sprinkle white and bittersweet chocolate on hot surface and swirl ( do not spread) with a knife after 1 minute or when slightly softened. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack; cut into 2 x1 inch bars.
