1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF and grease a tube pan.

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to egg mixture alternately with milk, mixing after each addition.

Pour into tube pan and bake for 1 hour.

Serve with strawberries and ice cream.

Oma had to go out one day and she needed Opa to make a cake for her while she was out. She wrote out the recipe and left it on the kitchen counter with the note "Jerry White Cake" written across the top. It got put away in the recipe box like that and has been known as Jerry White Cake ever since.
