1 1/2 cup chopped dates
1 1/2 cup hot water
2 TB soft butter
2 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In bowl, combine dates, water & butter. Let stand 5 minutes.In large bowl combine flour, sugar, walnuts, baking soda & salt. Stir in eggs, vanilla & date mixture until moistened. Pour into 5 small 3x5 loaves that are greased or 2 8x4x2 pans. Bake 375º for 45-50 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes befor removing from pan.
