1/2 c. sugar
3 T. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
5-6 c. apples (peeled and cut)
1 T. butter
Two-crust pie

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, flour, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Wash, pare and core apples. Cut into small pieces. Add sugar mixture to apples. Mix. Mound apples in pie shell. Pack to avoid air spaces. Cut butter into small pieces and place on top of apples.
Place top crust on pie. Cut slits for steam to escape. finish edge. Put foil around edge to prevent overbrowning. bake at 425º for 30 minutes. Remove foil strip and bake another 10-15 minutes. Cool on a wore rack.
