2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 nutmeg
1/2 cup butter or shortening
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups peeled, finely grated apple
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Sift together the first five ingredients and set aside. Cream the butter or shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating will after each addition. Stir in the dry ingredients and apple half at a time. Fold in nuts. Pour into a well-greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bake for one hour or until done. Cool in the pan for 10 minuets and turn onto a wire rack. Cook completely before slicling.
