Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons butter or Crisco
3/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together dry ingredients together into a bowl. Blend butter in with a pastry blender. Add milk gradually mixing only long enough to be moderately smooth. Dumplings may be tossed on a floured board, patted and rolled and cut like biscuits, or they may be dropped by spoonfuls onto the boiling gravy. They must not settle into gravy, but must rest on the chicken or on the vegetables. Cook tightly covered for twelve minutes. Under no circumstances open the cover before the full 12 minutes have elapsed. It is usually necessary to use a little extra liquid for the dropped biscuits.
