Meringue Shell:
2 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Filling:
3/4 cup chocolate chips
3 tbsp. strong coffee
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Meringue Shell:
Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff but not dry. Add sugar gradually, a tablespoon at a time while continuing to beat. Fold in chopped pecans and spread in buttered 9-in. pie pan. Bake 1 hour at 275º F. When shell is cool, pour in filling.

Filling:
Melt chocolate with 1 tbsp. coffee, add remaining coffee and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Cool slightly. Whip cream, add vanilla and fold in chocolate mixture. Pour into shell. Chill for several hours. Serve i small portions as this is very rich.
