Crumble 1 to 1 1/2 pounds pork sausage into a skillet and brown it. Pour off a little fat. Then add:

1 green pepper, chopped
2 green onions, chopped
2 or 3 stalks celery, chopped
2 cups chicken consomme or bouillon
1 cup raw rice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt

Dr. Martin puts the lid on and lets it simmer at the lowest possible heat while he goes out and sets a fracture. When he comes back in about an hour, his dinner is ready.

This recipe came from "The I Hate to Cook Book". Mother would also use this mixture in her stuffed peppers. She would take 4 green peppers and cut in two then Parboil them right before stuffing them with the mixture. I imagine she baked them for a short time after but does not say.
