1 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 to 1/2 c. chopped onion
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c. milk
vegetable oil

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 5 ingredients in large bowl. Add egg and milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Let batter sit 5 minutes.
Carefully drop batter by rounded tablespoons into deep hot oil (375 degrees).
Fry, turning once, 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
Drain well on paper towels.
Yields about 1 1/2 dozen.
