Ingredients:  
3 cups cooked wild rice (cook 1 cup in 3-4 cups water)
1 Large onion finely chopped or can use dried onions
1 Large carrot finely chopped
1 rib celery finely diced
1 cup finely diced ham
1 stick butter or margarin
1 cup flour
8 cups chicken broth (can use water and bouillon)
1 cup cream or half & half
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Boil rice until water is absorbed--1 hour or more
Saute carrot, celery, onion and ham in butter until vegetables are tender. Heat 8 cups water with the bouillon or add the bouillon after water is hot( can use chicken flavored soup base) Stir flour into hot water. Add vegetables and meat and broth to wild rice. Heat through add salt and pepper to taste and add half & half. Heat but don't boil

I think chopped chicken is also good to use instead of the ham...and some shaved almonds on top always add a nice finish
