1 cup raisins
1 cup sugar
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In saucepan, combine raisins, sugar, water, shortening, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to boil and boil for 3 minutes. Let cool. Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and nuts. Stir into cooked mixture.
Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350º for 1 hr.; for a 8x13 pan, bake about 30 minutes.

Believe I tried this a LONG time ago...again, sounded interesting so added, but don't remember how it turned out. My notes give the two different sized pans and baking times, but I'd watch the cake for time as don't remember how I came up with different times/pans.
