1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk


Directions:

preheat oven 350º grease to shallow pan
Cake.
Sift flour, salt, and baking powder onto a paper plate
Cream together shortening, sugar yolks and vanilla.
Add the flour and milk to the creamed mixture and spread onto the 2 pans


when cake is cool spread one cake with filling and top with the other cake.

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. corn starch
2 slightly beaten egg yolks
1 c. milk (scalded)
1 tsp. butter (melted)
grated orange rind
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cook in a double boiler cornstarch and sugar and egg yolks slightly beaten slowly add milk until thick, stirring constantly
add butter and cool add the rind of one orange and vanilla.

4 egg whites
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. almonds (chopped)

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites and sugar until stiff and spread over the batter then sprinkle nuts on top. Bake until done.
