Val's Snack Mix Recipe

1 box Rice Chex
2 pkgs microwave popcornn
4 cups mini pretzels or pretzel sticks
2 cups almonds or pecans

1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1/2 cup corn syrup (the clear one)
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Preheat Oven to 300º
Use the largest foil pan you can fine ($1 store)
Spray with Pam
Pop the popcorn, pour it into the pan slowly so you can pick out any unpeopled kernels
Pour the box of Chex on top of the popcorn
break the pretzels into smaller bite-size pieces, if using thin pretzel sticks just break them in half
Mix ion a trash bag

In a medium sauce pan melt the butter, stir in the 2 cups of brown sugar and 1/2 cup Karo
Keeping it on medium high heat and bring it to a boil
Let it boil for 5 minutes without storing. You can lower the heat a bit as long as it keeps boiling
At the end of the 5 minutes remove from the heat, add the 2 tsp vanilla and stir it
Pour it over the mixture and gently fold it in. Gently because if you stir it hard you crush everything. Don't worry if its not all mixed, it will eventually
Bake it for 30 minutes taking it out and stirring it at 10 minutes and 20 minutes
At the end of the 30 minutes take it out and dump it over on wax paper
Spread it out and let it cool. Store it in an airtight container
