1/2 c. dark brown sugar, packed firm
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. cornstarch
2 1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and salt over medium heat. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, or until butter melts and sugar begins to caramelize, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
In a medium bowl, whisk cornstarch and milk, then whisk into the brown sugar mixture. Cook over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes, or until mixture has thickened, whisking constantly. Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla. Pour into a serving bowl or individual serving dishes and chill 2 to 3 hours, or until set.
