"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 c. oatmeal
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 sticks butter, melted
5 apples, peeled and sliced thin
16 oz. honey

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first five ingredients and 10-12 oz. of honey in large bowl. Pat 1/2 of crumb mixture on bottom of 13x9 pan. Lay apple slices on top of crust. Lightly sprinkle with additional cinnamon and nutmeg over apples.

Drizzle with remaining honey. (May not use quite the whole bottle). Top with the rest of the crumb mixture, patting down to form solid crust layer. Do not preheat oven. Turn oven to 350. Bake for 30 minutes.

**For Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp, use 1 bag frozen strawberries (thawed) and 2 c. rhubarb chopped instead of apples. Boil rhubarb in honey water just to cover the top of the rhubarb. Drain. May omit nutmeg and increase cinnamon.
