1 cup butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup corn oil
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp orange rind
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking soda
5 cups all purpose flour
Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar with hand mixer. Add remaining ingredients except for flour to the creamed mixture and thoroughly mix.

Add 1 cup flour at a time, using hand mixer (may have to stir by hand the last cup, as dough will be a little stiff)

Make 1-1/2" balls, roll in sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet, then flatten (Dip into colored sugars or sprinkles for the various holidays)

Bake at 350º for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
