3 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/2 lb unsalted butter
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract

For Icing: 1 tsp espresso powder, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 1/2-2 T milk, 1 c confectioners sugar, 1 T unsweetened cocoa powder.

Preheat oven to 350º

Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cardamom, cinnamon, and allspice in a bowl.

Beat together butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Reduce speed to low and mix in flour mixture until just combined. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour.

Roll out dough to 1/4" thickness and cut into shapes of choice and bake until edges are golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.

Cool on baking sheets, and then decorate with espresso-chocolate (mocha) icing.
