Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 1 lb Chicken Livers (I usually buy about 3 packs of frozen livers and make a bunch & freeze them).

Directions:Preheat oven to 220º. Prepare baking sheet by lining with parchment paper. Remove livers from container and cut into pieces - ensuring the pieces are lo larger than 1-2" across. Dont cut too small. Lay out livers on parchment paper, spacing evenly and leaving enough room between each so they do not touch. Press livers down with a fork to flatten and make them as thin as possible, down to 1/4" or so if possible. Bake for 2 hours, rotating the pan after an hour. If the treats are not dry enough after this amount of time, break livers into smaller pieces and replace in the oven for another 30 mins or so. Once the livers are sufficiently dry, remove the pan from the oven. The outsides should be dry & crispy while the insides will remain spongy. Carefully transfer the parchment paper with the livers to a wire cooling rack. Livers should have a jerky like look when you are through but will be softer than most store bought varieties.
Treats last in fridge for a couple of weeks or several months in freezer. Break into small pieces to give your dog. A little goes a long way! |

Notes: Dogs love them! Great to use when training. Easy to do & so much better for them than the store bought ones.
