1 pkg. dried pinto beans
1 tsp. of salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Ham hock or thick sliced bacon

Directions:
Directions:
Pick through beans to get rid of bad ones and possibly rocks.
Wash beans and soak overnight in water.
Drain and put in hot boiling water that has ham hock boiling or a few slices of thick sliced bacon. (The more ham the better.)
Turn beans down now and cook about 3 hours.
Add seasonings.
If you have to add water use hot water.
Cook down until the juice is thick.

All of our grandmothers in the south cook pinto beans served with cornbread. Delicious!
