1/2 c firmly packed light brown sugar
3 tbsp. all purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 scant tbsp. soft margarine
1/2 c chopped nuts (optional)
For Cake Use:
2 c sifted all purpose flour
2 1/4 tsp double acting baking powder
3/4 c superfine sugar
3/4 tsp salt
2 eggs well beaten
1/2 c milk
1/2 c salad oil

Directions:
Directions:
Combine brown sugar and flour and cinnamon in a small bowl. With pastry blender, blend margarine into mixture thoroughly. Add nuts. Set aside.
For Cake:
Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into mixing bowl. Combine eggs, milk and oil. Stir liquid ingredients into dry ingredients until barely blended. Turn batter into grease 9" square pan. Spoon crumb topping over batter. Bake in 400ºF oven for 25 to 30 min until done. Makes 9 (3") squares.
