Cake:
2c sugar
2c flour
2 sticks butter
5 eggs
vanilla

Icing:
2c sugar & 1/2c cream
1c cream
1/2 stick butter
vanilla
(double this if icing sides of cake)

Cake:
cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time alternating with flour and ending with flour. Add vanilla. Grease and flour pan

Bake at 325º until lightly brown. Don't over bake.

Icing:
bring cream and 2c sugar to a boil;while this is heating take 1/2c sugar in a small skillet and heat until brown-don't stir tilt the pan from side to side- add this to cream and sugar boil over medium heat to soft ball stage. Remove from heat add butter and vanilla and beat until smooth.

Pour over cooled cake
