2 cups and 2 tablespoons sifted flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cloves
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup soft shortening
1 cup buttermilk
3 eggs (1/2 to 2/3 cups)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and spices. Add brown sugar, shortening and buttermilk. Mix all together. Add eggs and beat well. Pour into greased and floured pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done, when inserted knife comes out clean.
