'Another new display at the Museum [Chester County Historical Society], is a dress Ann Rowen Penrose wore to George Washington's inaugural ball, May 7, 1789, in New York City. Ann Penrose was the wife of Jonathan Penrose, Philadelphia, a cousin to Anthony Wayne's wife, Ann. Penrose belonged to the First Troop Philadelphia City Calvary, whose action in the winter of 1776-77 and in the battle of Princeton won a persona commendation of distinction from Washington.

The gown, an open robe and matching petticoat, is of pal blue-green silk satin with shirred ribbings. Hagy said that it will be on display through March. The fraktur will be on display through Mid March.

The Museum, 225 N. High Street, West Chester, is open from 10 AM to 4 PM Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 1 - 8 PM Wednesday. The Historical Society's Library is open the same hours but both are closed on Mondays.'
