Directions:
Use 9x13 pan.

Butter pan with melted butter using pastry brush. Start placing pastry sheets in pan until half are used, buttering each layer as you go. If sheets are to large, just fold over into pan and "glue" with a little butter. Then spread the nut mixture evenly over the already buttered layers. Continue with remaining sheets, buttering each sheet until all are used. Spread butter on tip, and place in freezer for about 1/2 hour.

Remove from freezer and cut into diamond shapes. (Cut lengthwise in strips and then diagonally to form diamond shape) Bake on top third of oven at 325º for about an hour (until golden brown).

Remove from oven, and when cooled slightly, pour over the following syrup (cooked while baklava is baking):

Syrup
Bring to a boil then simmer for 15 minutes. Pour hot syrup over cooled baklava, and let stand until pastry absorbs the syrup. Let stand at room temperature before removing from pan. Place in paper cases to serve.
