1 med onion chopped
1 red pepper chopped
3 stalks celery diced
2 large potatoes cubed
4 14oz cans baby clams
8 oz. petit diced tomatoes
6 - 8 oz. water or enough for water level to be about 1 inch above veg.
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
Salt and pepper to taste

Drain clam juice into large cooking pot. Put clams aside. Add the water and vegetables. Bring to a boil, season with salt & pepper and simmer until veg are tender. Add diced tomatoes just until the liquid is pinkish and again bring to a boil. Mix the rhue and gently stir into chowder. Once slightly thickened add the baby clams which will warm quickly.
