1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 c. molasses
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. hot coffee, divided use
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. raisins

Icing:
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
3 T. butter, softened
5 tsp. orange juice

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease and flour 9 x 9 baking pan. Set aside.

In mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugar. Add egg. Beat well. Add molasses, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Stir to blend thoroughly. Add half of coffee. Stir. In small bowl, combine flour and baking soda. Stir half of flour mixture into butter mixture. Blend well. Add remaining coffee. Blend well. Add remaining flour mixture. Blend well. Stir in raisins.

Spread batter into prepared baking pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool on rack.

In small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, butter and orange juice. Add a little more juice if needed. Spread over cooled molasses bars.
