2 sticks butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
2 cups plus 2 T flour
2 tsp vanilla
pinch salt
additional sugar for pressing

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º.

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in vanilla.
Add flour gradually.

Using a small scoop, make balls and flatten on cookie sheets with a glass dipped in sugar.

To get the distinctive ridges, before baking, spread 3 fingers on top of the cookie and press while pulling your fingers together.

Bake until golden brown around the edges. About 12-15 minutes.

Cool on rack.
