1 c. shortening (butter and lard mixed or all butter)
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
4 to 5 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ginger

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and add sugar.
2. Cream until light and fluffy.
3. Add beaten egg and molasses.
4. Mix and sift flour, baking soda, and ginger.
5. Add to first mixture.
6. Roll out thick and cut in desired shapes.
7. Place on greased baking sheet.
8. Bake at 375º F for 10-12 minutes.

The recipe card was blotted out so it looks like it said 4 to 5 c. sifted flour, but only a trial bake will determine correct amount of flour.
