MEAT SAUCE:
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. Italian sausage (or pork sausage)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. dried basil
1 tsp. salt
1 onion, chopped
1 16 oz. can tomatoes (2 cups)
2 6 oz. cans tomato paste
Worcestershire sauce
Salt & pepper to taste


LASAGNA NOODLES: Cook 10 oz. Lasagna noodles in large amount boiling salted water. (15 - 20 minutes) Drain and rinse in cold water.

CHEESE FILLING:
3 c. ricotta or creamy small curd cottage cheese
1/2 c. grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
2 tbsp. parsley flakes
2 beaten eggs
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, shredded

For sauce: Brown meat and spoon off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer uncovered 30 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
Mix all ingredients for cheese filling in large bowl.
Place half of cooked noodles in a 13x9x2 inch baking dish; then spread half of cheese filling on top of noodles; then half of meat sauce. Repeat layers. Bake in preheated oven at 350º for 30 minutes. Before serving, let stand 10 minutes.
