6 large potatoes
2 or 3 cups shredded green cabbage
3 or 4 garlic cloves
1/2 stick butter
1/4 cup milk or less
salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Cut up potatoes small for boiling and put in saucepan. Add
shredded cabbage. Peel garlic cloves and add whole. Add
water to cover everything. Boil until potatoes fall apart
with fork and cabbage is soft. Drain out water. Add butter.
Mash. Add milk as needed to smooth mixture. Add salt and
pepper to taste.

I had something similar to this on my first trip to London. They called it Vegetable Hot pot and served with the most wonderful crusty bread.
