1 pkg active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2/3 cup buttermilk
2-2 1/2 cups flour
2 tbsp shortening
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
dissolve yeast in water in large mixer bowl. Add buttermilk 1 cup flour shortening sugar baking powder and salt. Blend 20 seconds on low speed scraping sides and bottom of the bowl Beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Stir in remaining flour. Dough should be soft and slightly sticky,knead 5 minutes or 200 turns on floured board.

shape dough into your preferred dinner roll, Brush with softened butter cover with clean cloth and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Bake 20 minutes at 375 º

Going thru Mom's recipes, I found a lot of dinner roll recipes. I found this funny because Mom just never had success with this particular dish. One unsuccessful time, Dad said you could play baseball with them. My brothers tried to take it a step further and took one out to bat it around. Good thing mom could laugh at herself... mostly.
