Vasilopita New Year’s Cake
2 sticks unsalted butter (room temperature)
4 eggs (room Temperature)
1 cup whole milk (room Temperature)
1 cup sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
3 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 shot of Grand Marinier
Mix butter, orange, eggs, milk and vanilla thoroughly.
Add the flour, sugar and baking powder to the wet ingredients, mix well.
Place into a buttered 10' round cake pan.
Bake @ 350 º, 45 minutes to 1 hour, checking for doneness
*Greek custom is to place a clean coin into the cake after baking the Vasilopita cake, when cut the person who finds the coin is said to be granted Good Luck all year.
