1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk

2 cups fresh or canned cherries
sugar to sweeten cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in pan. Mix dry ingredients with milk in separate bowl until well mixed, pour batter in pan with butter (do not stir). Sweeten cherries to taste (maybe 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar) and pour over batter in pan. Do not stir. Bake in 350º oven 50 minutes until golden brown and toothpick stuck in batter comes out clean.
