½ c brown sugar
¼ c butter
3 tbsp water
1 can sliced pineapple
6 maraschino cherries
¼ c nuts
½ c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs beaten
1 ¾ c sifted flour
dash salt
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together brown sugar, butter and water until dissolved in heavy cake pan. Arrange a layer of pineapple slices and decorate with cherries and nuts. Cream shortening, sugar, beat in eggs. Mix and sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk and vanilla. Turn batter over fruit in pan. Bake in a moderately hot oven (375º) for 45 minutes.
