1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 1/2 c. chopped apples
1 c. chopped nuts

Sauce:
1 c. sugar
2 T. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. water
2 T. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar together very thoroughly.
2. Add egg and beat well.
3. Mix and sift flour, soda, salt, and spices.
4. Stir sifted dry ingredients into creamed mixture.
5. Blend in apples and nuts.
6. Pour into greased and floured baking dish.
7. Bake at 350º F for 30 minutes or until done.
8. Serve with whipped cream or make sauce:

9. Combine sugar, flour and spices.
10. Add water and stir until smooth.
11. Cook over medium or low heat until it boils vigorously.
12. Allow to boil for 3 minutes to thicken slightly.
13. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.
