1/2 c. butter
2 1/4 c. conf. sugar
2/3 c. evaporated milk
6 squares bitter chocolate

Directions:
1. Put all ingredients into a double boiler for 30 minutes.
2. Do not stir while melting.
3. Beat with wire whisk thoroughly.
4. Store in fridge and heat when needed.
5. Makes about 1 1/2 pints.

I remember Mother making this sauce. It was delicious served over vanilla ice cream or a brownie.
