4 c granulated sugar
1 c warm water
½ to ¾ t cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve water and sugar and put on medium heat, stir until it starts to boil. Do not stir after it begins boiling. Boil until it hardens when dropped in cold water.
Place on a smooth surface. (Grandpa used a large meat platter.)
When cool enough to handle add vanilla. Use buttered hands, start pulling and pull and pull until it is white. After it turns white, start pulling into long thin strips and cut into bite size pieces. (Use butter on your scissors.)
