Ingredients:
Cookies:

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
1/4 t. salt
1/2 t. lemon juice
1 egg
1 cup sour cream
5 cups sifted flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda

Buttercream Frosting:
1 lb confectioner's sugar
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1 t. vanilla
3 T. milk (sometimes needs more milk to make it spread easier)
Food coloring, optional

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Cream butter, sugar, salt, and lemon. Beat in egg. Alternate sour cream and flour mixture (with baking soda and baking powder). Chill dough.
3. Roll 1/3 of dough at a time (you can use a lot of flour so it doesn't stick to everything and they still taste good). Cut out with cookie cutter - they should not be too thin - a little thick, about 1/4 inch thick, the cookies do not rise much during baking.
4. Bake at 375º about 10 to 12 minutes. Watch closely, the top of cookie should not be brown, look at bottom, if it is slighly brown, it is done.
5. Cool, then frost.

Personal Notes:
Mrs. Zoul, one of Jackie's teachers at Jane Macon Middle School in Brunswick, Georgia, gave us this recipe. It is our favorite one to make at Christmas! We like to use the butter cream frosting recipe on the back of the confectioner's sugar box to frost the cooking with.
