10 medium peeled potatoes
8 to 10 slices cut up bacon
1 c vinegar
1 c sugar (or less- a full cup makes it quite sweet)
1 c water

Directions:
Directions:
Boil potatoes in salted water. Cool and slice. Fry bacon until crisp. Leave bacon grease in pan. Combine water, vinegar and sugar. Place in pan with grease, bring to a boil. Add about 2 Tbsp cornstarch mixed with water. Stir until mix thickens and becomes opaque. Pour over potatoes, adding raw chopped green or regular onions to taste and bacon pieces. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Warm in 225 degree oven before serving.

Lois’s maternal grandmother, Lena Landmeier, was the daughter of German settlers who emigrated to Illinois in the 1800s and began farming in the Bensenville area. This recipe, a true family heirloom and a treasure, was passed down from her.
