½ pound bacon, diced
2 medium onions, minced
2 large potatoes, diced (or ½ package Oreida southern-style hash browns)
2 cans minced clams
2 cans baby clams
3 cups milk
4-5 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons cornstarch
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
In pot melt butter over low heat, add bacon, onions and fry over medium heat till bacon starts to crisp and onions are lightly browned. Add diced potatoes and juice from cans of clams. If liquid does not cover potatoes add sufficient water. Simmer about 5 or 10 minutes until potatoes are soft, add salt, pepper and the clams. Add 2 cups milk to the pot and heat to almost boiling. Mix cornstarch to 1 cup milk to make a paste then add it to chowder.
Heat but DO NOT BOIL.
