1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup Evaporated milk
1 cup chopped pecans

Frosting:
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk - maybe a little more
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
Directions:
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream brown sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition
3. Beat in vanilla
4. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt
5. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
6. Stir in pecans
7. Transfer to a greased 13x9 inch baking pan.
8. Bake at 350º for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
9. Cook completely on a wire rack.

For Frosting:
1. In a small saucepan, melt butter.
2. Stir in the brown sugar, milk and salt.
3. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 3 minutes
4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
5. Cool to room temperature, about 45 minutes.
6. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar
7. It could be dry; if so, add in a tablespoon of milk at a time until the frosting becomes creamy
8. Frost the cake.
9. Enjoy
