1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 T. milk
2 cups flour
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1 1/2 cups peeled and chopped apples
1/2 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together first four ingredients. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Stir in apples and raisins.
Pour batter (it will be thick) into one large greased and floured loaf pan (or 2 to 3 small loaf pans)
Bake 60 minutes at 350º - bread is finished when an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

This is an Elsie classic; some like raisins, some do not - some add ginger and extra cinnamon. This is an easy recipe to double or even triple!
