1 (14 oz) pkg. caramel candies

1 1/3 cup water
3/4 cup softened butter
3 eggs

Directions:
Melt caramels with milk in saucepan over very low heat. Stir often while melting. Combine cake mix with water, butter and eggs in a large mixer bowl and blend on low speed 30 seconds, then beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour half the batter in a greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350º for 10 minutes or until cake puffs a little and is gooey. Pour the caramel-milk mixture over partially baked layer to within 1/2 inch of the edge of the pan. Sprinkle the nuts and chocolate chips evenly over the caramel. Pour the remaining batter over all and bake at 350º for about 25-30 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly. Cool in pan and cut into squares. Can be topped with ice cream, whipped topping, or leave plain.
