2/3 c. softened butter or margarine
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 t. vanilla
3 c. cake flour
2 1/2 t. baking powder
1 1/4 c. milk

Filling:

1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
2 c. milk
2 t. vanilla
3 eggs
5 T. flour
pinch salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter. Gradually add sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Sift flour, baking powder and 1 t. salt. Add to cream mixture alternating with milk, sifting each time. Beat 1 minute.

Bake in greased and floured round layer pans at 350º for 30-35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove from pans. Cool completely.

Mix all filling ingredients and cook until thick.

Layer between cakes.

Ice with carmel icing.
