Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb. butter
1 lb. brown sugar
1 egg
6 cups plain flour, measure before sifting
1 tsp. vanilla
Pecans, chopped small

Directions:
Directions:
Have butter very soft. In a mixing bowl add butter, sugar and vanilla. Mix, then add "beaten egg". Mix well. Add chopped nuts. Measure flour after sifting and add to sugar mixture until it is a still dough Knead into logs. Wrap each log in plastic wrap and let stand in refrigerator 48 hours. Slice in 1/4 to 1/2 inch rounds. Bake in a "slow" oven. I take this to mean 300-350 degrees. Uncooked cookies can be kept in refrigerator up to two weeks. Store cooked cookies in airtight container.

You can make the rolls as large and as long as you want. I make mine 2 1/2 to 3 inches round. This makes a small "Tea Cookie".
