1 c white sugar
1/2 c shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c milk
grated rind of 2 lemons
1 tsp baking powder
2 c sifted all purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add grated lemon rind. Bake in greased oaf pan at 325ºF for 1 hour. Remove from pan. Mix juice of lemons and 1/4 c sugar and pour over while still hot and let stand. Before slicing sift with icing sugar.
