2 pounds granny smith apples,peeled,cored, and thinly sliced
5 Tablespoons sugar
5 teaspoons cinnamon
1Tablespoon dark rum
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 1/2 teapoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
powdered sugar

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Grease a 10 inch tube pan.combine apples ,5 Tablespoons sugar,and cinnamon.Add rum and toss.set aside.In large bowl of electric mixer,combine flour,remaining sugar,oil,eggs,juice,baking powder,vanilla and salt.Beat until well mixed.Batter will be heavy.Spoon half of batter into prepared pan.top with half of apple mixture.repeat with remaining batter and apples.Bake about 1 3/4 hours until top of cake is brown.cool.Remove from pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
